Poverty continues to affect our communities and families. There are many reasons for why so many are living in poverty today, but one of the many reasons why is the debt which affects not only those that choose it, but those in their greater community as well. We are sent to show compassion to the weak and needy, but to also restore financial integrity.

- In 2011, about 15% of the U.S. population was living under the poverty line and about 9% in North Dakota (U.S. Census Bureau).
- Poverty rates are highest for families headed by single women (National Poverty Center).
- 22% of children in the U.S. are living in poverty (National Poverty Center).
- There is about $1 Trillion in outstanding student loan debt in the U.S. today (Consumer Finance protection Bureau).
- There's an average of $8,640 in credit card debt per household (Federal Reserve, 2008).
- The U.S. National debt is around $16 Trillion and growing (U.S. Department of the Treasury, 2013).
